Garnier Express 2 in 1 Eye Make-Up Remover

Garnier Express 2 in 1 Eye Make-Up Remover Boots £3.50

I find good eye make-up removers hard to come across so I tend to swap and change each time they run out to find one I'm happy with. I'm a massive fan of Garnier Fresh Essentials Eye Make-Up Remover and love the formula and how effective it is. When looking for a replacement recently, I came across this - the Garnier Express 2 in 1 Eye Make-Up Remover. The solution is an oil and a water which you mix together by shaking the bottle, you then apply to a cotton pad and hold over the eye area and gently sweep away eye-make up.

The solution is enriched in arginine to protect lashes, which leaves a protective layer on the lashes which over time is supposed to reduce any lash loss. The bottle says no rubbing is required to remove make-up and it doesn't leave a greasy feel after use. It claims to remove waterproof eye make-up and is suitable for those wearing contact lenses.

However, this is yet another disappointing eye make-up remover. I don't wear anything heavy duty in eye area, just a few coats of regular mascara, no tough liquid liner or glitter. Yet this refused to budge anything without some heavy rubbing action and don't mention to amount of solution I had to use. I always feel these oil solutions are such a let down and don't do no where as good as a general cleansing oil which actually dissolves the make-up and sweeps away easily. I wouldn't say the lash loss I experienced from using the product was significantly less than any other. I also did feel it left a greasy film in the eye area after. All in all this is a terrible product, don't waste your money, there are much better alternatives out there.

Update: Leaving University & Plans For The Future

I thought I'd give you a short update on what's been going on in my life over the past few months. Most of you will know I came to university in September and moved to Nottingham. Nottingham is a wonderful student city and the university life was enjoyable. However, after Christmas something just didn't feel right. I knew I was doing the wrong course for me but battled on as I didn't want to be a drop and realised the city wasn't as safe as first impressions. I became very depressed, stopped going out, stopped attending lectures and seminars, stopped eating & shut myself in my room all day everyday.

I knew I had to make a decision about what I wanted to do with my life, I knew I could never been happy continuing with the course I was doing and didn't feel like I fitted in with the whole student thing. The noisiness, untidiness and drunkenness of people really got on my nerves and I was constantly stressed out and irritated. I decided to quit, but not altogether, just somewhere else and a new course. Anyway between then and now things have finally started to settle down. I had to finish out my the year (due to issues that are too long to explain) and then I will finish up here when exams are done.

I'll be attending Staffordshire University from September to study Business and Marketing Management. I chose the course because I'm really into marketing with my work in social media, it seemed very fitting and interesting compared to Accounting and Finance. I hope things go well this time, I'm looking forward to it and hoping some big changes in my life will commence in this time, for the better of course.

Thanks for your patience if I haven't posted much here and on my channel recently.

La Roche-Posay Effalcar Duo +

You know those products that you love and use day in day out for months but they never come to your attention because you're just so used to them they become invisible? La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo has always been one of those products for me. I started using Effaclar Duo about a year ago, unlike other anti-blemish creams and gels, it isn't drying, it doesn't sting or irritate the skin. I stopped using it for a while and switched to Clinique Clinical Clearing Gel, which I love, but is super pricey for something I get through so quickly.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo [+] Boots £15.50

I decided to switch back to Effacar Duo but was aware it has been re-branded to Effaclar Duo [+] as the formula has been altered. However, I still find it very similar to the original formula and get the same results. It's hosted in a squeeze tube with a narrow nozzle and a screw top lid; super handy for travelling. The formula is a liquid cloudy gel/cream consistency that is applied sparingly on a cleansed face to any problem areas where imperfections occur often or are present (or you can use it all over like me). I apply twice a day along with the rest of my skincare regime, you can just use this and skip moisturiser depending on your skin type but I like to use one just to add more moisture to my face. The difference with the new formula is that it contains an active ingredient which prevents and fades any scarring that many occur after breakouts and calms down any inflammation.

I used to suffer from those horrid under the skin angry pests (also known as cystic acne) and this was the only thing they would calm them down. It feels incredibly soothing when applied and doesn't burn or dry tight like most spot treatments - it's very gentle. I used to use this everyday but recently my skin has been clearing up loads so don't feel like I need it constantly; but I'd struggle without having it to hand and if I've been having late nights, been stressed or my diet hasn't been great, I like to use it as a preventative method. I really struggle to find acne treating products suitable for sensitive skin but this has been a savior and really suited my skin and tackled my problems without disturbing the rest of my face.

The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil

Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil The Body Shop £10

I'm a massive fan of cleansing oils and balms, they are far more superior than using make-up wipes and cleansing creams and milks to remove make-up. I've been a massive fan of the Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm, but at £21 a tub, it isn't the cheapest for a make-up remover. After doing my research I came across The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil which seemed like a good alternative at less than half the price.

The product is hosted in this very practical plastic bottle with a pump. As I travel around a lot, I find this hugely convenient, I'd hate for a glass bottle to smash or a screw top to come loose and leak oil all over my clothes etc. The clear bottle also allows you to see how much product you have left so you don't surprisingly run out.

To remove my make-up I use two pumps of the oil and massage into a dry face, you then add water to emulsify the oil. You can instantly feel your make-up melting away under your fingertips. It is slightly alien at first as you can see all kinds of make-up being wiped around your face but when you feel you've worked around the face enough you can remove with water. I like to use a muslin cloth so I can thoroughly remove everything. The formula is super gentle and soothing, it thoroughly cleanses the skin and removes all traces of make-up whilst nourishing the skin and not leaving it dry and irritated.

What surprised me the most was that it didn't leave any oily residue behind whatsoever. I have the oiliest skin ever and usually resort to harsh face washes to get rid of the oil. However, I have also been using this as my general cleanser instead of a face wash and my oil production has seriously calmed down, as well as any breakouts I may have had before. The skin looks so glowy, hydrated, clear and healthy. Did I mention their products are 100% cruelty free? This product has seriously changed my skincare so much, I honestly can't recommend it enough.

June Wishlist #01

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

(1) My oh my, has any noticed my love for rose gold recently? It started with my Ted Baker Harpel and it's just, well, escalated. When I came across these I just knew I had to have them, they have my name written all over them. They are stunning, aren't they? (2) I've never been a huge ran of rings, but since getting used to wearing a ring full time on my left hand they feel comfortable and normal now. I am literally in awe of this Tiffany heart ring and will be putting it on a future birthday/Christmas wishlist. (3) Stationary Junkies Anonymous, check. Does anyone else get excited about buying new stationary for the year that you know you'll never use half of. I'm loving Paperchase big time lately and their pens are so gorgeous and practical. (4) I have a Clinique addiction, it's literally written all over my blog. It'd be obscene for me not to want to try their new Lash Power Feathering Mascara, fluttery feather lashes will be mine soon! (5) I'm all over this top heavy layering in dresses and playsuits recently, being larger on my bottom half and skinny on my top leaves me looking out of proportion and these just flatter my figure in every way. Top trumps Miss Selfridge, I'm loving the floral trend this SS14! (6) Ted Baker just tick all the boxes for me when it comes to handbags; stylish, roomy and sophisticated. I'm desperate for this monochrome beauty that has been screaming out for me to buy it every time I see it. One day my precious, I promise.
