REN ClearCalm 3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser

If you've been reading my blog for a while you'll remember back year ago when I suffered horribly from acne. No matter how much I spent, what I ate, what I did; it just wouldn't shift. Over the couple of years it's really cleared up a treat, but I still have to be careful what products I use. I've finally knuckled down a regime which I'll do a post on soon, but for now I want to have a little rave about this product; the REN ClearCalm 3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser.

Having tried Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish and not seeing any noticeable results, I was a little sceptical about this. With it's £18 a bottle price tag, it isn't the cheapest of cleansers. The 150ml bottle tends to last me around a month which can become costly. Also the packaging has it's pros and cons. First of all, the product is inside clear squeezy bag inside a plastic bottle. When you pump the product the bag itself inside becomes tighter to move the product upwards. This means at the end of it's life, there is always some product inside which you just can't get out which seems wasteful. However it does allow you to see when you are running out which is a massive bonus to you can stock up beforehand.

I apply one pump of the cleanser and massage it into dry skin; I always use a make-up remover before cleansing to double cleanse so I can't comment on how well it measures up in terms of that. I tend to leave it on my face for a minute before washing away with a warm, damp flannel. It has a very creamy consistency and a little goes a long way. It smells very natural, you can definitely pick up on the clay scent. It also contains camomile water, sage and lactic acid. These ingredients kill surface bacteria, absorb oil and help tone the pores. It is targeted towards those of us with problem skin, having oily skin I have definitely noticed a slow down in the oil production of my skin too which is a massive bonus.

I'm currently on my third bottle of the cleanser. Every time I run out I try and switch to a cheaper alternative and my skin just goes crazy and breaks out again. It really does calm the skin down in a completely natural manner which is great for people with sensitive skin like myself. It leaves skin feeling soft and hydrated, not tight and stripped like most cleansers targeted to my skin type. The only downside is how quickly I get through it, but it's definitely worth every penny; I wouldn't dare switch to anything else now, my skin adores this stuff.
